Hope & Faith
This morning during my meditation two words kept popping up: HOPE that things will change and FAITH that they will.
So much is going on in the world right now and we are a nation in deep pain. As a person of brown skin, a woman and gay, I have known firsthand what it is to stick out like a sore thumb, what it is to be judged and labeled just by appearance, and what it is to be targeted for not looking white enough. Shit, I have even been told that I am not Puerto Rican enough! I/We are so much more than the color of our skin. Let us have a conversation and get to know who and what we are about before placing judgment.
Hope and Faith need to be in the forefront of our mind and being. I get that things are looking grim right now, but things need to crumble before they get rebuilt. We are in the middle of changing the status quo while creating the kind of future we can all be proud of. Never again to be defined by color, social or financial status but by our character, values, and heart.
We are all the same and we are all connected so when one of us hurts, we all hurt. When one of us is killed, a piece in all of us also dies. Having hope and faith in our hearts is what is going to give us the strength to raise up and change the culture and narrative once and for all.
